Tangier | A major anti-drug operation has just been successfully carried out at the port of Tangier-Med. Moroccan security services have seized an impressive quantity of 209,000 Ecstasy-type psychotropic tabletsduring a check carried out Thursday evening.
This spectacular seizure is the result of close collaboration between elements of National Security and Customs services. operating at the Tanger-Med port complex. The drugs were discovered on board a foreign-registered vehicle arriving from Belgium.
The traffickers had devised a particularly ingenious method to hide their illicit merchandise. Psychotropic tablets were carefully hidden in cans of cat fooda sophisticated attempt to evade the vigilance of border controls.
Faced with this major discovery, the prefectural service of the Judicial Police of Tangier immediately took charge of the case. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a Moroccan national with Belgian nationality, was apprehended and subjected to a thorough judicial investigation.
