The Moroccan aviation sector displays brilliant health in the year 2024. The latest figures communicated by the National Airports Office (ONDA) reveal a historic performance: more than 24.27 million travelers passed through the kingdom’s airports over the first nine months of the year, an impressive increase of 19.66% compared to 2023.
This exceptional growth testifies to the tourism and economic dynamism of the country. Rabat-Salé airport particularly stands out with a dizzying 42.77% increase in its traffic. A performance which confirms the emergence of the administrative capital as a major air hub.
The Marrakech destination continues its rise with a 33.88% increase in the number of passengersconsolidating its position as an essential tourist hub. The other regional platforms are not left out: Agadir recorded an increase of 36.5%, Dakhla by 35.94%, Tetouan by 31.09%, and Tangier by 21.91%.
The domestic market confirms its vitality with more than 2.5 million passengers recorded on domestic routes, showing an increase of 28.82%. A trend which illustrates the democratization of air transport in Morocco.
International traffic, the main driver of this growth, crossed the 21.7 million passenger markan increase of 18.67%. This performance is based in particular on:
- Strong growth in the European market (+19.86%)
- Sustained growth in connections with Africa (+17.68%)
- Significant development of connections with the Middle and Far East (+11.99%)
Air freight follows this positive dynamic with an increase of 21.50%, exceeding 67,833 tonnes handled. Aircraft movements also increased by 15.44%, reaching nearly 180,000 rotations.
These exceptional results confirm the growing attractiveness of Morocco and the success of its air transport development strategy.. A performance which strengthens the kingdom’s position as a major airport hub between Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
